Low-frequency noise and vibrations
Low-frequency noise and infrasound (in air up to approx. 100 Hz) and vibrations (in the ground/buildings) can be caused by wind turbines. They depend on the source capacity of the turbines, the calculated frequency range and the array pattern.
In the Netherlands there is no statutory framework against which low frequency noise can be tested. The emission of low-frequency noise by wind turbines can be compared with the Danish norm of 20 dB(A). This norm can be used as a frame of reference.
For the Dutch situation, the guidelines of the NSG (Dutch noise abatement foundation) and the Vercammen curve can also be used.
